Why Use Raised Beds?

Raised beds have become more and more popular lately and here are a few reasons why:

Improved drainage
Can use specialized soil mixtures for plants that require them
Improved soil conditions and fewer pathways can result in a doubling or tripling of production
Raise plants to a more convenient working level making them easier to tend
Improve the organization of plants and separate areas of conflicting uses
Confine soil, dead leaves and debris resulting in less maintenance
People tend to avoid tending traditional gardens after it rains to avoid muddy feet and soil compaction. Raised beds allow you to walk around the plants

Retaining Walls

Why Use Retaining Walls?

Retaining walls hold back soil or rocks from an area. They prevent down-slope movement or erosion and provide support for vertical grade changes
Retaining walls create breaks within a landscape and allow for a more interesting and varied appearance with terraced flowerbeds, tree surrounds, shrubs and flowers
Retaining walls can enhance the beauty of a landscaped property
Retaining walls can protect areas from excessive flooding or run-off

Why Use the Liteblok™ Kit for Retaining Walls?

Liteblok™ retaining walls are about half the cost of typical contractor installed walls
At only 8 lbs, Liteblok™ is much lighter and easier to handle than the typical 80 lb retaining wall block
Lightweight, interlocking, mortarless design means installation can be completed quickly and easily
Choice of four attractive colors. Blocks can also be finished in a variety of ways including cast stone and stucco
Liteblok™ retaining walls are strong and long lasting

Choosing the Kits

Each Liteblok™ is 5" deep, 5" high, and 10" long
Kits can be either 10" high (two blocks - one flat bottom and one flat top block) or 15" high (three blocks - one flat bottom, one regular, and one flat top block)
Blocks are 10" long but can be cut in half with a hand saw to create 5" blocks when needed
Blocks must be stacked in an interlocking fashion as shown in the photo above
Looking at the top row of the photo above, there are two blocks on each end and three each on the sides for a total of 10 blocks per row. Therefore, to duplicate the raised bed above you will need to order 10 kits of 10" high. This kit will create the bed above with an interior space of 10" x 30".
Kits include Liteblok™ blocks, reinforcing steel (rebar) to fix into the ground, color coordinated grout, and installation instructions.
Temporary raised beds can be created simply by stacking the blocks and not employing rebar and grout
Note that the blocks are hand made and color and texture may vary somewhat from block to block. If a very consistent appearance is required, it is recommended that grey colored blocks be purchased and finished with stucco, stone or other desired finish
